It’s Wednesday at three. The snow
is kicking its feet against my cheek
and I can’t help but not care.
My throat is ticking faster
than my heart beat. Noises, words,
lines are piling in, batting the
breeze past my face.
I feel everything.
I feel poetry.
Happy birthday, Elizabeth Bishop. And thank you.
